2. Pompom Wreath

Forget all that faff threading yarn through cardboard circles, pompoms are super-fast and easy to make with a proper pompom maker, and what better way to use them than a bright and cheerful yuletide wreath? We've got a whole Pinterest board of inspiration right here, and Hobbycraft has a great video tutorial on how to make a Christmas wreath. We love this cute Rudolph C2C blanket from the talented Sarah at Repeat Crafter Me. It's a free pattern, complete with charts, yarn requirements and full instructions. Definitely on our list of must-have Christmas makes!

We just love, love, love this free crochet pattern for a Crochet Christmas Tree from Anabelia Craft Designs (scroll down a bit to find it), including written instructions and a chart. Plus we've found the perfect cotton yarn for it here


5. Falling Snow Scarf

We're in love with the beautiful Falling Snow Scarf scarf from Purl Soho. Incredibly versatile, this free colourwork pattern is easily adapted for cowls and other knitwear, and you can make it any combination of yarn or colours you like.

6. Crochet Christmas Baubles
